Technical Architect

Overview

BraveNewTalent is looking for a highly skilled Technical Architect to join our rapidly growing technical development team. We are a well-funded technology startup looking to increase our pace in developing an industry changing social network, focused on connecting talent with the employers they want to work for.

The Company

BraveNewTalent is a game changing technology start up with traction, blue chip clients and confirmed track for global scale. The platform brings together all social media content an employer has – jobs, tweets, blogs, news, pictures, videos and more – and intelligently connects talent to employers and opportunities based on a sophisticated recommendation engine. Current clients include blue chip brands such as Starbucks, IBM, L’Oréal, Tesco and McAfee.

In line with our current UK success, and following venture funding from Northzone and experienced Angels such as Cambridge Angels, Pierce Casey, Mike Bourne and Alex Hoye, BraveNewTalent has opened offices in the US and India.

We are located in central London in an office at the Silicon Roundabout, around Old Street and Shoreditch

The Role

As the Technical Architect, you be in charge of ensuring that the technical team is able to deliver on the product and sales roadmaps. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including:

    • Developing the structure and operations of a growing and maturing engineering team
    • Defining the technical needs to support the product roadmap, while scheduling and managing deployments
    • Leading technical innovation in both code and processes, to come up with creative solutions in creating and maintaining a complex feature set
    • Coming up with innovative code solutions to complex problems, while ensuring that the quality of code and output from technical team meets stringent quality measures
    • Defining optimal technical structure for a scalable web application with a growing user base
    • Unit testing and integration testing, maintaining a test automation environment

Your Core Skills

  • 10-15 years of experience in software development
  • Strong Object Oriented PHP skills
  • Strong Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of ZEND framework (or deep understanding any other MVC based framework
  • Experience using MySQL and knowledge of relational database design
  • Highly proficient with version control (SVN/Git) experience
  • Experienced in and comfortable with structured development environments (version control, release processes, documentation, etc.)
  • Experience in creating scalable web-apps and working with high-volume traffic
  • Comfortable with server administration, maintaining existing servers and making recommendations for improvements or optimisations

Your Extra Bonuses

  • Familiarity with the social networking space, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Familiarity with job boards and other recruitment channels (particularly social recruitment)
  • Previous experience in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environment
  • Knowledge of jQuery
  • Experience with PHPUnit, TDD
  • Experience with APIs: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
  • Experience developing Facebook applications
  • Advanced server administration skills would be a huge plus (LAMP stack, SVN/Git, CI & deployment software, backups, monitoring)
